NBCU, Brzezinski Plan ‘Know Your Value’ Tour

NBCUniversal News Group is working with Mika Brzezinski to extend her New York Times bestselling book and brand “Knowing Your Value” into a franchise including content and a series of live events in five cities in 2015. In each city, Brzezinski (who has spoken at several cable-industry events on topics related to women in media workplaces) and a group of experts, including both nationally and locally-recognized figures, will host a day-long program that will explore how women at all stages of their careers can overcome roadblocks to be successful and to create the lives they want, NBCU said in a release. The live events will be designed to be accessible for women at all ages and levels, and will provide participants with training and mentoring opportunities as well as practical advice that they can apply both inside and outside of the workplace.

NBCU said the “Know Your Value” tour will be part of a full-year program that will focus on building an engaged community where women can come together to coach, network and support each other to create their blueprint of success. Each event will feature panel discussions, breakout sessions, training and mentoring opportunities and aspirational speakers that will cover a wide range of topics, including negotiation skills, personal finance, health and wellness.

Companies already on board include Johnson & Johnson, as "presenting sponsor," and Prudential, JetBlue, Comcast NBCUniversal, Tivo and fashion brand Milly, NBCU said. The tour will kick off in Philadelphia in April, followed by Washington, D.C., in May, Chicago in September, Boston in October and Orlando, Fla., in November. More information about each event and ticket purchasing will be announced in the coming weeks.

“The whole idea behind knowing your value is to provide tangible, relatable advice that can empower women to achieve their own vision of success,” Brzezinski, the co-host of MSNBC's Morning Joe, said in the release. “We want to create a different kind of national movement that provides tips, training and resources that feel realistic for working women in their everyday lives. We’re thrilled to team up with employers who share this mission to bring these events to women from all backgrounds, industries and stages of their careers.”

MSNBC will also feature a new “Know Your Value” digital resource center: www.msnbc.com/knowyourvalue, featuring regularly updated content, live-streaming of conferences that users can watch while on the go, where members of the growing “Know Your Value” community can network and continue the conversation.
