National Cable Communications reported Tuesday that its first foray into
an online affiliate promotion -- in association with Comedy Central and sponsor
U.S. Cellular -- proved successful.
The promotion -- centered on Comedy's 'Jon Stewart's Big Shot Sweepstakes'
and spanning March 11 through April 7 -- led to U.S. Cellular's buying time on
22 NCC-repped systems and interconnects.
The spot-cable rep firm described that as 'a significant buy' targeting young
adults aged 18 through 34. It included AT&T Broadband in Boston; OnMedia in
Des Moines, Iowa; Charter Communications Inc. in Madison, Wis.; and Time Warner
Cable and the Milwaukee Interconnect in Milwaukee.
Viewers were directed to a Web site (giveashout.com ) where they could enter
to win a trip to New York to attend a live taping of Comedy's The Daily Show
with Jon Stewart.
'Our first venture into online sweepstakes proved to be
a huge boost for U.S. Cellular and its products,' NCC director of promotions
Lori Greenwood said in a prepared statement.
