NCTA: 94 Nets vs. Multicast Must-Carry

The National Cable & Telecommunications Association said Monday that 94 cable networks sent a joint letter urging members of Congress to oppose placing a multicast-must-carry obligation on cable operators.

The list -- spelled out in a letter to Sen. Ted Stevens (R-Alaska) -- includes networks owned or partly owned by large MSOs Comcast Corp., Time Warner Inc., Cox Communications Inc. and Cablevision Systems Corp.

It does not include networks owned by programming powers News Corp., NBC Universal and Viacom Inc.

The letter and the network list can be found on the NCTA’s Web site (web.ncta.com/communications/Multicast.2005.09.12.pdf).
