NCTA’s Nicoll Dies at 56

David Nicoll, a lawyer who joined the National Cable & Telecommunications Association more than two decades ago, died Wednesday after a long illness, the cable trade group announced Thursday.

"David was a valuable contributor to the NCTA, but even more important, he was a quality person who was a friend and colleague to all," NCTA president Kyle McSlarrow said in a prepared statement. "David fought this last battle with courage and dignity, and he was an inspiration to all of us."

Nicoll, 56, an expert in regulatory matters involving the telephone industry, joined the NCTA in 1984 following stints at the Federal Communications Commission, the Department of Justice and law firm Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo.

“The Nicoll family will hold a small family service in New York, and the NCTA is currently working out details for a memorial service in Washington, D.C.,” the NCTA said in a prepared statement.
