NCTA Slate Adds Katzenberg, Iger

DreamWorks SKG partner Jeffrey Katzenberg and The Walt Disney Co. president Bob Iger are among the high-profile speakers the National Cable & Telecommunications Association has booked to speak at its annual convention in April.

Yahoo! Inc. co-founder Jerry Yang, News Corp. president Peter Chernin and Cisco Systems Inc. CEO John Chambers will also be featured on general sessions at the National Show, in San Francisco from April 3-5, sources said last week.

The opening general session on Sunday, April 3, will feature Yang, Cablevision Systems Corp. chief operating officer Tom Rutledge and Vulcan Ventures and Charter Communications Inc. chairman Paul Allen.

The April 4 opening session — focused on “the personalization of media” — will feature Chambers, Iger, Comcast Corp. CEO Brian Roberts and America Online CEO Jon Miller.

Discussion on how Internet protocol technology is affecting communications will be the focus of the general session the morning of April 5, featuring Sprint Corp. president Len Lauer, Cox Communications Inc. CEO Jim Robbins, RealNetworks Inc. CEO Rob Glaser and Time Warner Cable chairman and CEO Glenn Britt.

The convention will close that afternoon with a panel featuring Chernin, Katzenberg, NBC Universal chairman Bob Wright and Jeffrey Bewkes, chairman of Time Warner Inc.’s Entertainment & Network Group. The topic: “how digital technology is changing content.”
