NCTC Promotes Abbott

The National Cable Television Cooperative promoted Scott Abbott, a 24-year cable-industry veteran, to the post of executive vice president, officials said Thursday.

Abbott has served as NCTC senior VP of operations and strategic planning for the past year. Previously, he was VP of programming and national accounts for six years. He joined the co-op in 1997 as national-accounts director.

Abbott’s promotion is part of the reorganization plan implemented over the past year by NCTC CEO Jeff Abbas.

“Scott has done a tremendous job integrating what had been individual business units into an effective operations group that has brought improved service to our members,” Abbas said in a prepared statement.

The NCTC’s VPs of corporate communications, internal operations and human resources -- as well as programming, accounting and hardware-operations managers, national-accounts and membership-affairs groups -- will all report to Abbott.

One of Abbott’s key initiatives has been creating a more robust e-commerce platform, which is being rolled out in phases to members this year.
