Univision Communications Inc. said Thursday that its Galavisión network aired 48 of the top 50 programs on Spanish-language cable among many key demos, including adults 18-49 and 18-34.
The network attracted a record adult 18-49 total-day audience, increasing its viewership by 6% for the season, and its audience in that demographic grew 11% in daytime and 43% in early fringe versus last year's season, Univision said.
Soccer was also a kick for Galavisión, as its broadcasts of Futbol Liga Mexicana -- the most competitive soccer from Mexico's premier soccer league -- delivered almost six times more adult 18-49 viewers and seven times more males 18-49 than Fox Sports en Espanol's broadcast of Futbol de Mexico, Univision said.
"Galavisión's results this quarter and during this season reflect the value that the growing U.S. Hispanic audience places in our network," Galavisión senior vice president and general manager Joanne Lynch said in a prepared statement.
"We are particularly proud to consistently deliver vital news and information and the best soccer tournaments to our passionate and dedicated audience, and we have exciting plans to continue to provide the highest-quality offerings on Spanish-language television," she added.
