Verizon FiOS TV is having a productive week in New England.
Verizon Communications Inc.’s fiber-optic-powered video service announced a carriage deal with New England Cable News, making the regional news network available throughout all of its New England FiOS TV markets.
NECN will initially be available in Woburn, Reading and Lynnfield, Mass., where Verizon offers FiOS TV. The regional Bell operating company will also carry the network in future New England markets as it obtains cable franchises and launches service.
On the topic of cable franchises, the Board of Selectmen of Tewksbury, Mass., voted unanimously Tuesday night to grant Verizon a franchise to offer FiOS TV.
The community of more than 27,000 will join Woburn, Reading and Lynnfield, where Verizon already offers service, as well as the fellow Massachusetts communities of Wakefield, Hamilton and Wenham, where the RBOC has been awarded franchises.
Verizon also offers FiOS TV in markets in New York, California, Texas, Florida, Maryland and Virginia.
