NESN Completes Connecticut Distribution with Charter Launches

Charter Communications subscribers in southern Litchfield and New Haven counties in Connecticut can now watch Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins games on NESN.
The MSO has inked a carriage deal with the regional sports network to carry the service on channel 35 in standard- definition and 774 in the high-definition format as part of its expanded basic level of service. Financial terms were not disclosed.
As such, NESN is now fully distributed throughout Connecticut in the state's territories that are permitted to carry Red Sox and Bruins telecasts. That footprint excludes Fairfield, County, which is home to the New York area club telecasts.
"Charter is pleased to offer NESN to our customers in Litchfield and New Haven counties, providing comprehensive coverage of Red Sox, Bruins and other New England based sports programming," said Gregory Garabedian, vice president and general manager for Charter's operations in New England, in announcing the rollout.
Noted NESN president and CEO Sean McGrail: "This is tremendous news for fans in these Charter communities. The Red Sox are about to begin the 2012 season and the Bruins are readying themselves for the start of the playoffs to defend the Stanley Cup, so the timing couldn't be better. This launch means NESN is now distributed 100% throughout the Connecticut territory permitted by the leagues."
