Netflix to Stream Oprah Winfrey, Ava DuVernay Interview

Netflix on Jan. 26 will stream an interview special featuring Oprah Winfrey and Ava DuVernay, the OTT service said Wednesday.

The 30-minute interview, 13TH: A Conversation With Oprah Winfrey & Ava DuVernay, comes on the heels of an Oscar nomination in the Best Documentary Feature category for DuVernay’s 13TH.

The special features Winfrey interviewing DuVernay about her filmmaking process for 13TH, which launched on Netflix last October.

“The truths revealed within 13TH are stunning, and a brilliant primer for a much needed global conversation,” says Lisa Nishimura, Netflix vice president of original documentaries in a statement. “The 13THinterview special was born from an organic post-screening discussion between two of the most influential and insightful women in media, Ava DuVernay and Oprah Winfrey, who invite us to share in their personal feelings surrounding one of the most important issues of our time.”
