Netflix Wednesday announced it has cancelled its comedy series One Day At A Time after three seasons.
The Latinix-themed series, a reboot of Norman Lear’s classic 1970’s CBS series of the same name, starred Rita Moreno, Marcel Ruiz, Justina Machado and Isabella Gomez garnered positive reviews over its Netflix run.
But the streaming service said in a Thursday morning tweet that the series didn’t generate a large enough audience to justify a fourth season.
“We’ve made the very difficult decision not to renew One Day At A Time for a fourth season,” Netflix said in the tweet. “The choice did not come easily — we spent several weeks trying to find a way to make another season work but in the end simply not enough people watched to justify another season.”
One Day At A Time is produced by Act III Productions, Inc., Snowpants Productions and Small Fish Studios in association with Sony Pictures Television, with Lear, Mike Royce, Gloria Calderón Kellett and Michael Garcia serving as executive producers.
