AOL-Time Warner Inc. was singed today when a four-alarm fire damaged its
new headquarters under construction on the west side of Manhattan.
The blaze ignited shortly
after midnight in one of the two towers at the construction site on
Columbus Circle, according to reports.
It started on the fourth floor of the 54-story skyscraper and burned through
the ninth floor before firefighters could extinguish it at about 2:35 a.m.
Eleven firefighters and a construction worker suffered minor injuries, and
seven of that number were taken to an area hospital.

There are no estimates for damage to the office, residential and retail
complex, which is scheduled for completion in 2004.
