AT&T U-Verse TV and Verizon FiOS TV, company officials
The Spanish-language network will mirror Hollywood movie and original series content from the 33 million- subscriber Encore channel. Encore Espanol --which will air such films as Alice in Wonderland, Up, 2012, The Bounty Hunter, and The Princess and the Frog, as well as Encore originals such as miniseries Moby Dickwhich debuts tonight -- joins the Encore's library of seven multiplex channels.
"AT&T and Verizon will benefit greatly with the launch of Encore Espanol and enjoy a distinct competitive advantage in the markets in which they serve communities with Spanish-language households," said Ed Huguez, executive vice president, sales and affiliate marketing in a statement. "We look forward to working with our other affiliates to secure additional launches of the new channel in the future. The ultimate winners, of course, are the Spanish-language households that get to enjoy a great new service with a wide range of premium movie - and now also original - content that will appeal across the family."
The launch of Encore Espanol is one of several Encore channel changes taking place today. Encore's kids-themed service WAM! and Mystery channel have been rebranded as Encore Family and Encore Suspense, respectively, while Encore Action and Encore Drama are now available in HD, according to network officials.
