NBC confirmed that an ad-sales slowdown will mean "some reduction in the employee work force in the first quarter." That would amount to a workforce cut of between 5 percent and 10 percent-representing 300 to 600 of NBC's 6,000 employees-the network said. Some cuts would be accomplished "through attrition." NBC also said it has asked all of its divisions to "look for efficiencies" through unspecified new technologies.
