New York-MTV: Music Television last week unveiled a development slate that includes some 40 projects, including several reality series, a soap opera and cable's third battling-robots show.

Five series that will debut this October and early next year are: Jackass, which features "silly pranks" and "idiotic stunts" and is co-produced by director Spike Jonze; Spydergames, a soap opera; Mall Confessions, where a confession booth is set up at shopping centers across the country; The Sausage Factory, about four high-schoolers who get into "lurid trouble"; and Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?, where participants bring a celebrity to a friend's dinner party.

MTV also green-lighted several dozen pilots, including Robot Wars, from the British Broadcasting Corp. In that show, contestants create robots that battle against each other in futuristic settings.
