The New York Giants are again part of MSG's roster.
MSG has struck a deal, terms of which were not disclosed, to telecast six weekly programs about the NFL team on regional sports networks MSG Network and MSG Plus.
The programming lineup kicks off every week during the pro football season on Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m. on MSG Network with Giants Opening Drive Live, a 30-minute preview show hosted by former G-Man and Hall of Fame linebacker Harry Carson and Anita Marks. The program will be telecast live from the Timex Performance Center and the New Meadowlands Stadium parking lot for home games and from MSG's studios when the club is on the road.
Immediately following at 10 a.m. is Giants Game Day, where Bob Papa will join Marks for a half-hour pre-taped program, featuring three segments: a one-on-one interview with Papa and a Giants player; a game strategy session with another former Giants linebacker, Carl Banks; and a roundtable discussion with Marks, Papa and local writers.
At 10:30 a.m. Papa returns for Giants Chronicles, a 30-minute taped program that will offer an in-depth look at the career of a Giants legend.
Tuesday nights at 11 p.m. on MSG Plus, Papa and Banks will host Giants Rewind, a 30-minute look back at the team's game from that weekend.
On Wednesdays, MSG Network will set the tone for the upcoming contest, by televising coach Tom Coughlin's press conference live at 11 a.m. In turn, the network will repackage the press conference into a 30-minute special, hosted by Marks, which will air later that night at 11 p.m.
The launch of the shows mark the first time Giants will air on MSG since 2003, when the RSN ran Giants Training Report and Giants Online.
"The New York Football Giants are a storied franchise with a passionate fan base and we look forward to bringing them new and exciting content this fall," said Dan Ronayne, executive vice president and general manager of MSG Networks in announcing the club's return to the RSNs. "On the heels of our recent Boomer & Carton announcement, this addition to our lineup only strengthens our position as one of the most diverse and creative sports and entertainment media companies in the country."
"We have received feedback from our fan base and Giants fans want to see more content" said Mike Stevens, senior vice president and CMO of the Giants. "MSG is the best all around partner for both programming and promotion of our shows. On top of that our players love going to events at MSG, so the relationship makes sense."
Another RSN, SNY presents a host of New York Jets programming. The clubs share the New Meadowland Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.
