News Channels Form Own Rep Firm

Three regional news networks announced the formation of a partnership
Wednesday to create their own New York-based rep firm, replacing Regional News
Representation, which is being dissolved, they said.

The three networks -- Boston-based New England Cable News, Chicago-based
ChicagoLand TV and Washington, D.C.'s NewsChannel 8 -- said they will pitch
their combined 5 million cable households to prospective advertisers and their
ad-agency buyers.

The networks said they plan to open additional 'field offices strategically
placed to cover other regions.'

Rainbow Advertising Sales Corp. officials confirmed that RNR is phasing out
of representing third-party regional news networks, but RASCO emphasized that
thr rep firm will continue representing Cablevision Systems Corp.'s News12
Networks and the New York Interconnect.
