News Nets Ride Saddam Coverage

News of the capture of Saddam Hussein, not surprisingly, meant big ratings spikes for cable's all-news networks Sunday.

Fox News Channel, Cable News Network and MSNBC all rang up triple-digit viewership gains from 5 a.m.-1 p.m. Dec. 14.

Category-leader Fox News averaged 2.94 million viewers during the aforementioned period, according to Nielsen Media Research data, a 275% jump from the corresponding period the Sunday before.

CNN scored an almost six-fold advance to 2.67 million viewers from the prior Sunday, while MSNBC averaged 846,000 viewers, racking up a 315% improvement.
