Adelphia Communications Corp. will replace Empire Sports Network with NFL Network on its analog tiers throughout its Upstate New York footprint.

The National Football League’s cable service will initially be launched by the MSO in Buffalo, N.Y., where Adelphia has nearly 500,000 subscribers.

To help promote the carriage deal, Buffalo Bills linebacker Takeo Spikes will be a guest on Monday's NFL Total Access at 7 p.m. (EST).

Adelphia will also become the NFL team’s official broadband provider this season, and the operator will have a customer-appreciation day during one Bills game.

NFL Network currently has more than 25 million subscribers.
