NFL Network Tallies 5.4 Million Viewers With Chicago-Miami


NFL Network stayed hot with its primetime slate of games, as last night's Chicago-Miami battle tackled an audience of more than 5 million viewers.
The Nov. 18 telecast -- the Bears shutout the Dolphins 16-0 -- averaged 5.4 million viewers, according to Nielsen data. The cable delivery excludes over-the-air watchers in the DMAs of the combatants. NFL Network said the game topped all entertainment and sports cablecasts last night, including the 2.1 million for ESPN's UCLA-Washington college football contest and TNT''s National Basketball Association doubleheader of Phoenix-Orlando (1.2 million) and Denver-Portland (1.1 million).
According to officials at the pro football league's in-house channel, Chicago-Miami scored an 80% gain over NFL Network's comparable Thursday Night Football telecast last season, which matched the Dolphins against the Carolina Panthers.
Last week, NFL Network notched its top TNF season-opener as 5 million watched the Atlanta Falcons declaw the Baltimore Ravens.
Next up: a Thanksgiving night match featuring the Cincinnati Bengals visiting the New York Jets.
