NGC Joins Secret Service, Prevents Disaster

National Geographic Channel announced a special and a new series Wednesday.

The network will debut two-hour special Inside the U.S. Secret Service Sunday, Oct. 24, at 9 p.m. (EST/PST).

The special follows special agents on duty on the front lines and behind closed doors, detailing some of the intricate precautions taken to protect the president, as well as examining the agency's other critical duties, including detecting and confiscating counterfeit money, assessing threats made against the president or vice president and thwarting acts of financial crime and digital terrorism, from money laundering to cyber attacks.

NGC will also deconstruct, moment-by-moment, the chain of events leading to some of the world's most infamous disasters with new series Seconds from Disaster, which debuts with a special double premiere Tuesday, Aug. 31, at 8 p.m. (EST/PST) before moving to its regular time slot Tuesdays at 10 p.m. beginning Sept. 14.

Seconds from Disaster will use advanced computer-generated imaging, re-enactments, archive footage, forensic science, eyewitness accounts and expert testimony to examine disasters such as the crash of the Concorde, the Oklahoma City bombing and the nuclear explosion in Chernobyl.
