Nickelodeon and m-Qube Inc. will launch portal Nick Mobile later this month.
The network said Nick Mobile will give kids and parents the opportunity to download ring tones, wallpaper and text-messaging services directly to their cellular phones.
Nick Mobile content will feature characters from Nick shows including SpongeBob SquarePants, Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, Dora the Explorer and The Fairly OddParents. The portal will also offer interactive-content subscription packages that will enable consumers to receive daily text-messaging alerts from popular Nick characters.
“The launch of the Nick Mobile online portal allows us to offer our audiences branded wireless content that extends the Nick experience to another screen, providing another opportunity to deepen their connection with their favorite characters," Nickelodeon vice president of business development and e-commerce operations Paul Jelinek said in a prepared statement.
“Wireless is becoming an increasingly important medium to reach our core demographic, and Nick Mobile allows us to expand our direct-to-consumer relationships with this audience,” he added. “It's one more medium that allows us to be everywhere kids are.”
