Nick, Hasbro Roll Out SpongeBob Games

Nickelodeon and Hasbro Inc.’s Hasbro Games division are rolling out a new line of games based on hit series SpongeBob SquarePants.

The deal between the two parties gives Hasbro Games the rights in the United States for all properties originating from Nick's TV properties and Nick Movies, along with allowing the toy company to co-brand some of its classic game properties with the network’s characters.

The first two Nick games, set to hit shelves this spring, will be the “Ants in the Square Pants” game and the “Game of Life in Bikini Bottom.”

Hasbro Games will also roll out a special edition of “Trivial Pursuit” in which all questions will be about Nick characters and properties and a version of “Candy Land” based on Nick character Dora the Explorer.

“Hasbro has a long history of leadership and innovation in the games business," Nickelodeon and Viacom Consumer Products vice president of hard goods Sherice Torres said in a prepared statement. "The combination of kids' favorite Nick characters with classic, beloved games such as Candy Land, Trivial Pursuit and Ants in the Pants is a winning formula."
