Nickelodeon/MTVN Promotes Woodruff

Nickelodeon/MTVN Kids and Family Group said it promoted Samantha Greene Woodruff to vice president of strategy and business development.

In her new role, Woodruff will support senior management in the development of long-range strategy plans for the various brands within the Nickelodeon/MTVN Kids and Family Group including Nickelodeon, Nick at Nite, The N, Noggin, Nicktoons Network and its entire digital portfolio, the company said.

“Samantha has proven to be an asset in terms of our brand development, helping us expand in the digital, magazine and family travel segments,” Dominique Crosby, senior vice president of strategy and business development at Nickelodeon/MTVN Kids and Family Group, said in Tuesday’s announcement. “She was instrumental in last year’s acquisition of Quizilla, an online site for teen girls, and will continue to be a major contributor to our long-range planning efforts.”

Woodruff worked previously as senior director of strategy and business development at the Nickelodeon Magazine Group. At the Nickelodeon Kids and Family Group, Woodruff spearheaded the development strategy for the Nickelodeon Magazine division, as well as several acquisitions in the digital space including popular teen social networking site Quizilla in 2006.

MTVN said she was a key player in deals including the recent Nickelodeon Resorts by Marriott agreement, where Nickelodeon and Marriott International will conceptualize and co-develop a new lodging resort brand for the traveling family. Up to 20 potential hotels are expected to be under construction by 2020.

Woodruff began her career with MTV Networks in 1998 as a research and planning analyst with TV Land and moved up the ranks to director of research and planning for Nick at Nite and TV Land.

A graduate of Wesleyan University, Woodruff holds a Bachelor’s degree in European History. She earned her Masters of Business Administration, specializing in Finance and Marketing from New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business.
