Nielsen Media Research has reached a deal enabling Anystream Inc. to incorporate its video-on-demand-encoding technology into on-demand content-production software, officials said Wednesday.
The nonexclusive agreement eliminates complex and costly post-installation upgrades and enables content providers, MSOs and distributors using Anystream’s “Agility” VOD software to seamlessly apply VOD-audio codes to content, in support of Nielsen’s VOD-measurement plan.
Anystream software is used by media companies to repurpose content for digital platforms, including VOD.
In May, Nielsen said it would incorporate VOD usage into its TV-ratings service, from its national and metered-market samples, in phases starting in the second quarter of next year.
“By integrating the industry’s premiere audience-measurement technology, Agility VOD now gives programmers both the production economies of scale and the tracking and measurement data required to capitalize on advertising opportunities and develop practical VOD-business models,” Anystream vice president of product marketing Fady Lamaa said in a prepared statement.
