Nielsen Media Research has filled the outside board that will manage its new $2.5 million research-and-development fund, which it has named the Council for Research Excellence, officials said Wednesday.
The 34-member board, which represents all of Nielsen’s client segments -- from cable to broadcast to ad agencies -- will have its first meeting June 8 in New York. It will select a smaller steering committee to oversee operations and make recommendations on research to the board.
At the June meeting, the board will elect a chairman, pick a steering committee and develop a process for identifying the research issues that will be considered for funding.
A technical-advisory committee will also be formed.
The council’s board includes: Tim Brooks, executive vice president of research for Lifetime Entertainment Services; Betsy Frank, executive VP of research for Viacom Inc.’s cable networks, film and publishing; David Poltrack, CBS’ executive VP of planning and research; Jonathan Sims, VP of research for Comcast Spotlight; and Jack Wakshlag, chief research officer for Turner Broadcasting System Inc.
