Pretty Little Liars debuted as ABC Family's top original series among a host of demos.
Bowing on June 8, the series drew an average audience of 2.5 million watchers, according to Nielsen data, ranking at the network's best series bow among adults 18 to 34 (837,000 of those watchers), women 18 to 34 (657,000), viewers 12 to 34 (1.7 million), females 12 to 34 (1.5 million), teens (904,000) and female teens (853,000).
In addition, Pretty Little Liars scored as the network's second-most-watched series premiere among adults 18 to 49 (1.1 million) and women 18 to 49 (854,000), trailing only the premiere of The Secret Life of An American Teenager on July 1, 2008.
Pretty Little Liars follows four estranged best friends, reunited one year after their best friend and queen bee, Alison, goes missing. However, they are receiving messages from an anonymous "A" who knows all their secrets
