Nortel Networks Corp. has added NetGear Inc., D-Link Systems Inc., SIPquest, Arcturus Networks Inc., Grandstream Networks Inc., Sipura Technology Inc. and TABLETMedia Inc. to its list of companies in its Session Initiation Protocol-based partner program.
They joined Texas Instruments Inc., i3 micro technology ab, Uniden America Corp. and Polycom Inc. in working with Nortel to offer SIP-based voice-over-Internet-protocol solutions.
In other VoIP news, Linksys announced that it has shipped more than 1 million VoIP ports over the past six months. The Cisco Systems Inc.-owned company supplies broadband operators with phone adapters plus wired and wireless routers with phone ports. Its customers include Vonage Holdings Corp. and AT&T Corp.
And Net2Phone Inc. announced an enhanced Wi-Fi service, offering the “VoiceLine XJ100 Wi-Fi Handset” on its Web site (www.net2phone.com). The device automatically and intelligently scans and connects to available Wi-Fi access points.
