MTV: Music Television and VH1 will air 10 consecutive hours of commercial-free musical performances from the Live 8 concerts Saturday.
VH1 will kick off the first five hours of Live 8: A Concert to Make Poverty History from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. (EST/PST), followed by MTV from 3 p.m.-8 p.m.
The concerts took place July 2.
MTV will also air half-hour news special Live 8: Next Steps Friday at 9 p.m. Next Steps includes news packages about the concerts and the G8 Summit.
“In the wake of our coverage last Saturday, our viewers have resoundingly told us online that they want to see full performances from their favorite artists,” MTV Networks Music Group president Van Toffler said in a prepared statement.
“As a result of viewer demand and thanks to the Live 8 organizers and performers, MTV and VH1 will air 10 consecutive hours from one of the most important musical events of our time,” he added.
