The National Press Club is on board with C-SPAN’s call for a more open House of Representatives.
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is considering C-SPAN’s request to provide immediate access to electronic records of House votes, but she denied the network’s call to ease restrictions on what its cameras can film of the House floor.
The NPC urged Pelosi to adopt both C-SPAN proposals.
“The public's right to know includes the right to know what its representatives are doing on the House floor," NPC president Jonathan D. Salant said in a prepared statement. "Making Congress more open and more accountable is in the public interest.”
