nuvoTV to Get a 'Jlo'-Style Makeover

nuvoTV, the English-language cable network aimed at U.S. Hispanics, will overhaul its “look and feel” to reflect actress/singer Jennifer Lopez’s involvement with the channel, network officials said.

The network is expected to share details of its programming and marketing efforts with Lopez and her Nuyorican Productions with media buyers and planners at its May 15 upfront in New York.

“J-Lo is deeply involved in our conversations about how to evolve the brand,” nuvoTV CEO Michael Schwimmer said in an interview with Hispanic TV Update. “We will be unveiling those details at our upfront presentation.”

The Los Angeles-based network declined to offer further specifics on Lopez’s involvement, citing plans to do so at the May event at Manhattan’s Edison Ballroom.

nuvoTV in 2012 announced a partnership with Lopez and her Nuyorican Productions to contribute to programming, strategy and marketing for the channel. She is also expected to promote the network and work closely with its distribution and advertising partners to help grow its overall business.

In exchange for her efforts, Lopez will receive a minority stake. Terms were not disclosed.

nuvoTV last year secured an additional $40 million from current investors; the network plans to use those funds to support Lopez’s efforts.
