Ong to Keynote at BCFM/BCCA Confab

National Geographic Channel president Laureen Ong will be one of the keynote speakers at the 45th Annual Broadcast Cable Financial Management Association/Broadcast Cable Credit Association Conference May 15-17 at the Hyatt Regency at the Superdome in New Orleans.

The theme of this year’s BCFM/BCCA Conference is “New Insights … New Orleans,” and its sessions will address issues affecting the financial health of the industry including localism; the digital-TV transition and must-carry/retransmission consent; media-property valuation; the impact of new programming regulations; issues affecting fraud in the advertising process; and recent rulings in harassment cases.

“Education and motivation are two of the benefits for attending a BCFM/BCCA Conference, and Laureen Ong -- whose career encompasses ascending from an entry-level post to the executive office, including running a major-market TV station and taking a cable-TV network from concept to 50 million TV households within four years -- will provide this year’s attendees an abundance of both,” BCFM/BCCA CEO Mary M. Collins said in a prepared statement.
