LONDON - OpenTV Corp. said its middleware was housed in 13.9 million satellite, cable and terrestrial digital set-tops by the end of 2000.
That's a 124-percent increase versus the end of 1999, when the company reported that 6.2 million boxes were shipped with its software on board.
OpenTV followed that news up with a deployment deal with NTL France. French MSOs Noos and France Telecom Cable have also deployed OpenTV's middleware.
OpenTV said more than 2.8 million set-tops with its middleware were shipped during the fourth quarter of 2000, a figure driven by deployments by EchoStar Communications Corp. in the U.S., British Sky Broadcasting Group plc in Europe, Digiturk in Turkey and Viasat in Scandinavia.
