Women-owned businesses in 11 cable systems nationwide will have a chance to win business services for a year as part of a national contest sponsored by the operators.

The Digital Growth contest, designed to boost interest in cable products, is part of CTAM's broader initiative, Cable Means Business. The contest is co-sponsored by Ladies Who Launch, a multi-platform lifestyle company that supports female entrepreneurs.

The contest begins Oct. 14 and continues through Nov. 13. The winners, selected in the participating systems by a panel of judges, will be announced in December. Contestants, who must be residents of the participating systems, will write essays about their business plans and how digital technologies could make those initiatives grow.

In addition to the cable services, winners will receive prizes from Ladies Who Launch including participation in a virtual business roundtable discussion, facilitated by the group's founder, Victoria Colligan. The organization's Web site will include prominent features on the winners.
