The Osbournes Give MTV Ratings Lift

MTV: Music Television's March 5 debut of original series The Osbournes
set a network ratings record for a series premiere.

The reality series, depicting the life of rock star Ozzy Osbourne's family,
drew a 2.8 Nielsen Media Research household rating, besting the May 1998
premiere of Celebrity Deathmatch, which generated a 2.6 rating, MTV
officials said.

The weekly, one-hour show also resonated with MTV's core 12- to 34-year-old
viewers, posting a 3.4 rating, MTV said.

The Osbournes follows the real-life drama of Osbourne, his wife and two
of his three kids as they move into a new house in Southern California, and it
gives viewers unlimited access into the Osbournes' personal and professional
lives over a six-month period.
