Outdoor Channel is going high-definition on Time Warner Cable's systems in metro New York.
Outdoor Channel HD is now available on the No. 2 cable operator's systems in New York City, Mount Vernon, N.Y. and in New Jersey.
The rollout stems from the renewal deal Time Warner Cable inked with the network's parent Outdoor Channel Holdings in March, which covers some 150 markets and distribution in standard, HD and video-on-demand formats.
"This agreement further solidifies Outdoor Channel's category leadership," said Outdoor Channel COO Tom Hornish."We continue to make strategic investments in quality programming that we are delivering to a growing base of loyal viewers who demand the visual clarity of the great outdoors in HD. Outdoor Channel is currently the only full-time outdoor network with a robust HD offering, and this launch in the number 1 media market is evidence that our investment is paying off."
Added Randy Brown, senior vice president of affiliate sales and marketing: "Outdoor Channel is excited to give those living in such a densely populated urban area the ability to watch some of their favorite outdoor activities in high quality, entertaining shows such as Monster Fish, Savage Wild, Ultimate Match Fishing and The Best Defense: Survival --all in HD."
