Outdoor Channel Wednesday announced the latest edition to its “Friday Night Fishing” programming block, reeling in popular outdoor TV host and fishing expert Bill Dance for a new series titled Bill Dance Saltwater.
The new series is scheduled to debut on Jan. 2, and will follow Dance (pictured) as he “unveils a plethora of easily accessible saltwater fishing destinations right here in North America.”
From the Northeast to the Florida Keys and westward to the Gold Coast and Texas, Dance's new multiplatform program introduces viewers “to a treasure trove of fish that are totally accessible to the average angler,” network officials said.
Later this year, the series will launch an accompanying Web site where viewers can find information to experience Dance's exact same adventure affordably.
“We aim to give the viewers the information and confidence to say, ‘Hey, I can do that too,’” Dance said in a statement. “This series will introduce anglers to amazing fishing destinations right in their own backyards, and we will also prepare them with the background they need to really have an excellent fishing experience.”
Each episode features Dance partnered with a noted saltwater expert who specializes in the catch of the week and educates viewers on fishing techniques, seasons and baits.
“Outdoor Channel is the leader in the traditional outdoor programming genre,” Tom Hornish, COO of Outdoor Channel, said in a statement. “Bill Dance is a leader in the world of fishing. He is a recognized expert and personality who has tremendous credibility with our viewers. We're honored to have him on our network.”
Bill Dance Saltwater debuts Friday, Jan. 2, 2009 at 10:30 p.m. ET. It will also air on Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. and Sundays at 8:30 a.m. ET.
