'Outlander's 'Wedding' Draws 3.8M Witnesses

The nuptials on Outlanders on Saturday night tied the knot on the highest level of viewership for Starz in over two years.

“The Wedding” installment in which Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) become man and wife in 18th century Scotland garnered 3.8 million witnesses, according to Nielsen live+3 day data. That was the most for Starz since the fifth episode of Spartacus: Vengeance in February 2012.

The delivery represented a 19% jump from the week prior on Outlander, and a 38% increase since the series premiere episode.

The mid-season finale on Sept. 27 at 9 p.m.finds Frank (Tobias Menzies) desperately searching for his missing wife in the 1940s, while Claire tries to come to terms with her new marriage to Jamie. Claire is faced with an emotional quandary as a life-altering opportunity presents itself.

The second half of the series’ first season, adapted from Diana Gabaldon’s eight-book series, returns on April 4, 2015
