Ovation to Televise Actors Hall of Fame Ceremony

Arts network Ovation on Oct. 10 will air the annual Actors Hall of Fame induction ceremony, honoring 15 well-known and successful thespians from TV, film and theater.

The Actors Hall of Fame Foundation is currently in the process of selecting the 2015 class of inductees (the evaluation process will begin on June 1). This year’s honorees will join such Hall of Famers from past years as Gene Hackman, Meryl Streep, William H. Macy, Morgan Freeman, Kirk Douglas, Julie Andrews, Robert DeNiro and more.

“This will not be a ‘traditional award show,’ ” Rusty Citron, president of the Actors Hall of Fame Foundation, said in a statement. “There are enough of those already!”

Citron added, “We wanted to partner with Ovation TV because, as the foremost arts broadcast network, they understand that an actor who has achieved this level of success deserves the respect and honor worthy of their accomplishments.”

In addition to running the Hall of Fame, the Actors Foundation also aims to bring awareness and resources to endangered school arts programs across the U.S.

“Ovation has been a supporter of arts education for many years, so we were delighted to learn of the Actors Hall of Fame Foundation’s mission to support drama programs across the country,” Ovation executive vice president Liz Janneman said in a statement.

“Certainly, many of the actors being honored could not have achieved the success they have without the support they received from educators and drama schools,” Janneman added. “Ovation is pleased to be able to give these actors, and the mission of the Hall of Fame, a national platform for the first time this coming October.”

Hosts and presenters for the ceremony have yet to be announced.
