OVGuide.com Raises $5 Million

OVGuide.com, an Internet video discovery and search portal, announced it has raised $5 million in funding from Baroda Ventures LLC, a private-equity firm run by the startup's CEO, David Bohnett.

Bohnett, chairman of Baroda Ventures and CEO of OVGuide.com, previously founded GeoCities, an Internet media company acquired in 1999 by Yahoo.

The site lets users search among 3,500 online video sites, including Hulu, Comcast's Fancast, TheWB.com, ESPN, South Park Studios and FunnyorDie.com.

OVGuide.com said it will use the funding from Baroda -- its sole outside investor -- to further develop its video search engine. Other Baroda investments include LowerMyBills.com, NetZero, Stamps.com, Wireimage.com and Xdrive.com.

OVGuide.com said it turned in its first profitable month of operations in January, when it generated 150 million page views from 12 million unique visitors. The Beverly Hills, Calif.-based outfit has 20 full-time employees.
