OWN Records Healthy Ratings Gains During Launch Period

The Oprah Winfrey Network racked up solid audience gains over its Discovery Health predecessor during its launch period.

For the period Jan. 1-9, OWN averaged a 0.55 rating and 505,000 viewers in primetime, according to network officials, to rank 25th in the daypart among ad-supported cable channels.

Gagued on a total-day basis over the span, OWN ranked 28th among the ad-supported cable nets,with a 0.27 household rating and 239,000 viewers.

Compared to the former Discovery Health network, which OWN replaced, the service was up in viewers 49% in prime and 56% in total day from a year ago.
