Oxygen Names Rothman VP of Communications

Julie Rothman will join Oxygen Media as vice president of communications, officials said Monday.

Rothman will be responsible for the network’s media relations, publicity and corporate communications. She will also be charged with long-term strategic planning for the network’s ongoing communications outreach.

The title of vice president of communications is a new one for Oxygen. Cassie Kanter, who had the title of Oxygen’s chief communications officer, has left the company, and Rothman will be assuming most of her duties. Kanter will be teaching corporate communications at Columbia University.

Rothman most recently served as vice president of East Coast entertainment publicity for NBC, where she was responsible for media relations campaigns for the network’s primetime schedule including the Law & Order brand, Emmy Award winner 30 Rock, the Miss USA pageants, Celebrity Apprentice, Lipstick Jungle and specials. She also oversaw all East Coast talent junkets and appearances and served as a spokeswoman for the network’s East Coast projects.

Earlier in her career Rothman held positions at CNBC, Lifetime, Fox, VH1 and Nickelodeon.
