Pace Micro Technology plc is showing off its new HD “Miami DC757” set-top at its booth during the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers’ Cable Tec-Expo.
The Miami box sports new integrated silicon, plus a built-in cable modem to supply Internet access and signaling in the box, the latter using the Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification 2.0’s Digital Set-Top Gateway scheme. Pace plans to submit the box for DOCSIS 2.0 DSG testing in the fourth quarter.
"Miami's latest-generation integrated silicon allows use of the internal cable modem for home Internet access, as well as signaling to the box, giving operators and consumers more bang for the buck," Pace director of product management Matt Grabham said.
The Miami box also offers a CableCARD conditional-access slot and an array of connection options, ranging from HDMI (HD multimedia interface) to standard inputs.
