Vonage America will roll out the “V-Phone.”
The voice-over-Internet-protocol provider described the new unit as “a portable and multifunctional USB [universal-serial-bus] device.”
The company said its VoIP software comes pre-loaded on the V-Phone and updates itself on the device's 256-megabyte flash drive. Vonage added that the V-phone comes with a standard 2.5-millimeter stereo earpiece microphone, compatible with many cellular-phone headsets.
The V-Phone can also be used at Wi-Fi hot spots.
Ubistar and SJ Labs teamed up to design the V-Phone.
