UP, a 24-hour TV network focused on family-friendly programming, has picked Comcast Wholesale’s Comcast Media Center unit to provide multiplatform content delivery services.
Under the deal, the CMC is providing channel origination and transmission services for UP, originating UP in HD and supplying a down-converted standard-definition version.
UP is also using Comcast Wholesale’s VOD platform to manage the on-demand delivery of its programming, which includes originals, premieres, series and specials. CMC’s VOD footprint currently encompasses cable systems across multiple MVPDs serving more than 56 million homes in the U.S. and Canada, Comcast Wholesale said.
UP, available in more than 65 million homes, has distribution deals with Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Bright House Networks, Charter Communications, Cox Communications, DirecTV, Dish Network, and Verizon FiOS TV. Atlanta-based UP is also a provider to sister network ASPiRE.
