Pike Joins GCI

Longtime Prime Cable technology executive and former Classic Communications
Inc. chief technology officer Dan Pike has joined General Communications Inc. in
Anchorage, Alaska, as CTO for cable and entertainment.

GCI said Pike will be responsible for technology, design criteria and
platforms issued related to its cable-telephony project, as well as assisting in
GCI's deployments of video-on-demand, high-definition TV, personal video
recorders and further digital-plant conversions.

In other technology news, Telution Inc., a provider of
operational-support-system software, said Utilicom Networks will use the
company's "COMX" software in its broadband rollouts.

Utilicom's Sigecom LLC unit will use the COMX platform to manage ordering,
provisioning, billing and customer service for its digital-cable,
high-speed-Internet and local/long-distance-telephony rollouts.

And Legerity Corp. said its "VoiceChip 790" series chip set was selected by
Arris for inclusion in the company's PacketCable voice-over-Internet-protocol
cable modem.

Arris' "Touchstone 202" telephony modem provides for two telephone lines
alongside a high-speed-data port. Legerity said its 790 series chip set was the
first voice chip set to be included in a commercially available,
PacketCable-certified VoIP cable modem.
