Playboy Consolidates, Forms New Group

Playboy Enterprises Inc. is getting all of its rabbits in a row.

The company Friday announced the consolidation of its existing online, TV and DVD businesses into a new Playboy Entertainment Group.

Playboy Enterprises senior executive vice president James Griffiths was named president of the new Playboy Entertainment Group

President of programming Ned Nalle and president of distribution Randy Nicolau will report to Griffiths.

Playboy Enterprises said the change will be implemented in the fourth quarter and the new Playboy Entertainment Group will be headquartered in Los Angeles.

“The similarities of these businesses, combined with the evolution of digital distribution platforms, have created an opportunity to create a more efficient and cost-effective operating structure,” Griffiths said in a prepared statement.

“Growing consumer adoption of digital technologies, including video-on-demand and broadband, is expanding our customer base around the globe,” he added. “This new organizational structure will allow us to capitalize on changing consumer media habits and ensure the effective use of our content across distribution platforms.”
