Playhouse Disney Takes ‘Stanley’ on Tour

With an assist from area MSOs, Disney Channel’s Playhouse Disney will roll out “Stanley’s Great Big Story Time Adventure” tour into four markets, beginning later this month.

Part of ABC Cable Networks Group's “Learning Together!” public-affairs initiative, Stanley's Great Big Story Time Adventure promotes preschool learning through the art of storytelling.

Mediacom Communications Corp. will help to host the event at the Blank Park Zoo in Des Moines, Iowa, June 28, while Cable One Inc. will be involved at the Quintard Mall in Anniston, Ala., three days later.

Time Warner Cable is the participating affiliate at the Williamson Theater at the College of Staten Island in the New York City borough Aug. 14, before Comcast Corp. works with Disney at the Benning Stodders Recreation Center Aug. 17 in Washington, D.C.

In addition to working with raconteurs, the cable affiliates will conduct book drives throughout their communities, then donate collected books to local recipient organizations of their choice.

Disney Channel is supplying cross-channel spots, taggable public-service announcements that encourage parental involvement in learning and community kits, including customizable templates, check lists and recourses to assist in implementing the campaign.

Encompassing all of the ABC Cable Networks Group channels -- ABC Family, Disney Channel, SOAPnet and Toon Disney -- Learning Together! is a public-affairs initiative created to improve children’s learning and personal growth through encouragement of family involvement.
