Pluto TV is complementing its linear-style OTT offering with a free, ad-based VOD offering that will feature movies and TV shows from partners such as Lionsgate, MGM and Warner Bros.

Pluto TV’s new VOD offering, which will put it in closer competition with ad-supported on-demand services from Crackle, Tubi TV and Vudu, initially includes catalog titles such as MGM’s Silence of the Lambs and The Usual Suspects, and Paramount Pictures’ Vanilla Sky, as well as TV shows such as Alf (Lionsgate) and The Ben Stiller Show (Warner Bros).
Other titles that are part of Pluto TV’s VOD slate include Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, The Birdcage, Charlotte’s Web, Thelma & Louise, Mad Max, The Hours, Defiance, The Kite Runner, Dances With Wolves, Paulie, Cirque Du Soleil: Worlds Away, and Lars and the Real Girl.
Pluto TV, whose core service features 100-plus curated OTT channels, said it now has more than 6 million monthly active users, up from the 5 million in reported having in Q4 2016.
Pluto TV’s new VOD offering and recent content deals come on the heels of the hiring of former NBCU exec Robert Magdlen to the post of chief programing officer.

Pluto TV currently supports a wide range of platforms, including iOS and Android mobile devices, web browsers, Amazon Fire TV boxes and sticks, Roku players and Roku TVs, Apple TV boxes, Android TV-based devise, Google’s Chromecast streaming adapter, smart TVs from Vizio, Hisense and Sony, as well as PlayStation and Xbox consoles.
