Pluto TV Launches on Amazon Fire TV Devices in the UK, Germany and Austria

Viacom-owned AVOD platform Pluto TV has announced its migration into Europe with the launch on Amazon Fire TV devices in the UK, Germany and Austria.

The free-to-consumer streaming service will support 50 channels in the UK with an app streamable not just on Fire TV, but also Fire Tablets.

In Germany and Austria, users will have access to Viacom-branded channels including MTV Pluto TV, MTV Dagting and MTV the Shores. “Popular” Nickelodeon content will be available on the platform in these two regions, as well.

Following Viacom’s $340 million purchase of Pluto TV in January, executives for the streaming platform have identified international expansion as a priority.

“The launch of Pluto TV on Amazon streaming and mobile devices in Europe takes us one step closer to fulfilling our mission to entertain the planet,” said Olivier Jollet, managing director Europe for Pluto TV, in a statement.

Our line-up of diverse, thematic channels and premium programming are a perfect match with Amazon’s vast and engaged customer base, especially now that in Germany and Austria we added Viacom content to our pipeline” Jollet added. “Amazon’s advanced streaming technology and user-friendly interface makes it easy for audiences to discover Pluto TV and experience the ultimate TV-like lean back viewing experience on a leading OTT device. For brands, the benefit of advertising on Pluto TV is that it’s a high-quality, brand-safe environment.”
